Using electric saltwater trolling motors can increase your haul by pretty large margins but that’s only if you also take care of the machine that you are using. No matter how durable the machine is, the conditions in which you are using it necessitates a very proactive approach to taking care of it and ensuring that no matter what happens, this machine would be able to work properly for the foreseeable future unless you were to be irresponsible with regards to maintaining it in a way that would facilitate extended usage.
One thing to bear in mind regardless of anything else is that a motor or anything really that is supposed to work in salt water is going to start corroding pretty quickly. Hence, getting a corrosion inhibitor can be very useful. It can prevent any serious corrosion from building up to the point where it would be impossible for any damage to occur. Regular maintenance would still be required of course, but you would at the very least be able to lay back a little and let a day or two go by without you checking everything due to the reason that you would know that you have done at least a little to protect your motor.
Some people make the false assumption that as long as their machine is expensive it is going to end up being the best machine and would never under any circumstances get damaged. This is the sort of thing where price really doesn’t matter. Salt water does have a tendency to be a pretty cruel mistress especially if you don’t respect it enough to acknowledge the sheer amounts of damage it can cause if left unchecked.
